This website serves to provide technical information with respect to the Nikadure™ coating. This composite coating is applied to various types of cylinder surfaces in order to improve their physical and mechanical properties. The coating has been successfully applied to motorbike barrels, jet-ski barrels, car-engine sleeves, machine parts (including jigs, valve stems and port surfaces). Aurum Plating has been reconditioning motorbike barrels since 1995. We are based in Brisbane, Australia and are proud to boast that we are the pioneers of Electrolytic Nickel Silicon-Carbide plating in the Oceania region. As all manufacturing and repair processes are carried out in-factory, it is only fair to say that we are able to achieve a high-standard of quality-controlled work and engineering processes (as well as drastically reducing our overheads thus passing the savings on to ou). We have catered for the dirtbike race scene for many years and our product has come first place in many instances. To prove our commitment to our product, our company undertook a joint study with The University of Queensland to analyse the Nikadure™ coating's mechanical and physical properties. This took the form of a thesis (1997-1998) and was supervised by Associate Professor John Drennan of the Microscopy and Microanalysis Centre and Dr Jeff Gates of the Mining, Minerals and Materials Engineering Department. Tests were carried out following strict guidelines outlined in various Engineering and Automotive standards. Wear tests, Hardness tests and Scanning Electron Microscopy were some of the methods of examination used to determine the quality of our product and to inform us on how to improve the physio-mechanical properties of the Nikadure coating.
