"Searching for signs of congruent practice in a post positivist higher degree world."Scene 1
This workshop begins with the creation of a wall ( the outside of the university building square). Students, lecturers, examiners, administration staff, politicians and interested members of the community have gathered to protest. It is reputed that a review of higher education is about to be handed down. Their emotion of protest rises to prompt them to graffiti the wall.
Scene 2
Many years later the square and the building are in ruins, and the graffitied wall remains. It is the point of visitation of distinguished visitors ( archeologists, sociologists, higher degree theorists, poets and writers). In groups they make sense of the grafitti in the light of historical documents detailing the history of higher education.
Action
We create signposts to direct action which will bring practices in higher education in congruence/harmony with new research/inquiry paradigms.
Presenter
Geof is currently enrolled in an Ed. D. at Q.U.T. addressing the topic of supervision and examination practices for theses which have adopted post positivist inquiry methodology.
