Can we get honest politicians?Gary Johns -- former member for Petrie
A sociodrama facilitated by Elizabeth Synnot -- Macquarie HouseIn Australia, over the past twenty years, respect for politicians has diminished as the electorate appears to be cynical about the motivations and values of politicians at all levels.
Our elected representatives have a vital impact on each of our lives and it is to the advantage of all members of the community if those representatives have honesty, congruence, courage, integrity, responsiveness and a vision for the lives of current and future generations.
Gary Johns was previously the member for the federal seat of Petrie and the Assistant Minister for Industrial Relations in the Keating Government. Gary is currently completing a PhD at the University of Queensland on "Ethics in Public Policy".
Using sociodrama, Elizabeth Synnot from Macquarie House Consultancy will explore with Gary whether we can get honest politicians and the influences and pressures on a politician and a political party in our democracy in Australia.
