Negotiate an in-house workshop to suit your own needs
Who is it for?
This is a workshop for people who wish to improve their skills and understanding for resolving conflict as a mediator or "third party". It may also help you resolve conflicts which directly involve you or deal with difficult people in a variety of settings.
Conflict management is often regarded as difficult. It need not be. The processes we examine and practice at the workshop will place effective third party conflict management within the reach of anyone with reasonable communication skills and confidence.
People who can benefit from the workshop include managers, group leaders in all settings, teachers and trainers, facilitators, and the like.
When is it?
At times negotiated to suit your needs and those of the participants. We recommend two days.
Where?
The venue can be arranged by you. Or if you prefer, we can arrange it at "Riverglenn", 70 Kate Street Indooroopilly. If at Riverglenn, accommodation is available on site for non-local participants.
What?
Workshop content will introduce you to a set of processes which allow relative novices to facilitate conflict management. The processes are robust, and can deal with conflicts ranging from simple to difficult and entrenched. You will have an opportunity to learn and practise ...
negotiating the process with the participantspreparation at the beginning of a conflict management session
the basic process for role negotiation and conflict resolution
asking the right questions
adjusting the process to suit the form of the conflict
concluding the session.
How?
You can anticipate an involving process which provides a mix of theory, discussion and practice. There will be small group work, and opportunties for practice, to help you consolidate the skills, techniques and concepts.
Appropriate handouts will be provided.
Facilitator?
The workshop facilitator is Bob Dick. Bob is a Brisbane-based educator, facilitator and consultant whose reputation in these fields is based on over a quarter of a century of experience.
Those of you who are familiar with Bob's work will know that his style is casual and participative, his processes robust and learnable, and his documentation clear, readable and practical. His workshops are characterised by an integration of theory and practice, with equal emphasis on the development of skills and understanding. The processes and models he helps others learn are those which he makes use of in his own work.
