About the UQconnect Broadband Plans
An 'Activation Fee' applies to all plans. A minimum contract period of 3, 6 or 12 months, applies to all Broadband Classic plans. Your service is payable 3, 6 or 12 monthly in advance at the time of application. UQ Research and UQ Business Affiliates are required to pay 6 monthly in advance. Subsequent costs will be invoiced to you, and are payable in advance in order to continue your service. Eftpos, cheque (payable to UQconnect), money order, cash or credit card payments (Mastercard and Visa) are accepted. In addition, any subsequent fees invoiced can be paid by B-PAY.
Broadband Classic plans only: If you are eligible for Rapid DSL Transfer, a 'Churn Fee' (Rapid DSL Transfer) of $55 is payable. You will not be charged the 'Activation Fee'. No fee is charged by UQconnect should you choose to transfer your service away from UQconnect to a new provider.
Broadband Plus plans only: If you are eligible to transfer your service (from another provider) to UQconnect, a 'Transfer Fee' of $165 is payable. You will not be charged the 'Activation Fee'. No fee is charged by UQconnect should you choose to transfer your service away from UQconnect to a new provider. A 'Transfer Fee' also applies to customers applying to upgrade their UQconnect aDSL1 (Broadband Classic) service to an aDSL2+ (Broadband Plus) service.
Broadband Classic plans only: Cancellation of a 3 or 6 month contract prior to the contract end date, will incur a 'Disconnection Fee' of $109. Cancellation of a 12 month contract requires full payment of the balance of monies owing up to your contract end date.
All Broadband Classic and Broadband Plus plans include Back-up Dial-up, 50MB Disk Space, 1 full (primary) email and up to 10 FreEmails
Speeds are presented in downstream/upstream format, e.g. 256/64 represents up to 256kbps downstream/64kbps upstream (kbps = kilobits per second).
If you exhaust your download before the end of the month, then your speed will be shaped to 64k but you will still have access to the Internet. To return to full speed before the end of the month, you can purchase a one-off block of additional download quota , valid for 120 days from date of activation.
Should you wish to upgrade your service during your contract period, you will be charged the applicable pro-rata costs, which are payable in advance. Please contact UQconnect to make these arrangements. Downgrade of your service can only take place at time of invoicing and you should contact UQconnect to make these arrangements, prior to paying your invoice. NB. Payment of an invoice constitutes acceptance or the service purchased and any associated terms and conditions.
A Static IP can be purchased if required. NB. Organisational Unit accounts include a Static IP address
Broadband Classic plans only: Requests to change the speed of your plan, will incur an 'ADSL Line Speed Change' fee of $50. Requests to change the location of the site (ie if you move houses), while retaining the same phone number, will incur a 'Relocation Fee' of $129. A 'Disconnection Fee' of $109 is charged, if you change your ADSL telephone number, change name of voice lessee or for cancellations of voice lessee.
Broadband Plus plans only: Requests to change the location of the site (ie if you move houses), while retaining the same phone number, will incur a new 'Activation Fee' of $192.50. If you change your telephone number, change name of voice lessee or cancel voice lessee, a new 'Activation Fee' of $192.50 is charged.
Broadband Classic plans only: Where a customer moves home within the initial six month contract period, and ADSL is not available in the new location, a 'Disconnection Fee' will be charged. If the service is cancelled after the initial six month contract period ends, no 'Disconnection Fee' is charged.
All prices quoted include GST. The pricing stated in the table above is monthly.
You are not entitled to a refund of any fees paid, should you choose to cancel your service prior to the end of your payment period.
8000/384 kbps service is offered on the basis that the line speed achieved is offered on a best effort, no guarantees basis, up to a maximum possible speed of 8 megabits downstream and 384 kilobits per second upstream. Speeds above 1500 kbps are dependent on many factors including, but not limited to, line quality and the distance from the exchange.
