General Information

Many UQconnect Internet accounts include a monthly download allowance.  Once you've used your monthly download allowance, your access is either limited or shaped. Unlike many Internet Service Providers, UQconnect do not charge you per MB once you exceed your monthly allowance.  You can return your service to full access by purchasing a one-off block of extra download, thereby giving you greater control over costs.

NOTE: Additional download quota is valid for 120 days from date of activation.  Each one-off block of extra download purchased, requires a one-off payment.

ADSL Broadband

If you run out of download on your ADSL plan before the end of the month, your speed is reduced to 64k (still faster than dial-up) but you still have full Internet access. If you want to return your service to full speed before the end of the month, you can purchase extra download. What you sign up for is exactly what you get!

FREE UQ Student & UQ Staff Accounts

Your access will be limited to just 'on-net' sites, if you run out of download on either a Free UQ Student or UQ Staff account.

On-net sites include any site on the UQ network (such as the library), all AARNet sites (most Australian universities except for Southern Cross, Bond and Notre Dame) and many leading research and education institutions around the world. You can check whether a site is 'on-net' by doing an Unmetered Site Lookup.
