1)Double-click on 'My Computer'.
2)Double-click on 'Dial-Up Networking'.

3)Double-click on 'Make New Connection'.

4)Change the name 'My Connection' to 'UQ'.
5)Select the name of the modem which is setup on your computer. This name will vary depending on the brand of modem you are using.
6)Click [Next] to continue.

7)Enter Area code '07'.
8)Enter in the UQconnect national dial in number 0198307170.
9)Select 'Australia 61' as the Country code.
10)Click [Next] to continue.

11)Click [Finish] to continue.

12)Right mouse click on the 'UQ' dial-up connection.
13)Select 'Properties'.

14)Remove the tick from 'Use area code and Dialing Properties'.
15)Select 'Server Types'.

16)Ensure that 'TCP/IP' is the only field that remains ticked.
17)Select 'TCP/IP Settings...'.

 
18)Select 'Specify name server address'.
19)Enter the Primary and Secondary DNS numbers exactly as shown.
20)Remove tick from 'Use IP header compression'.
21)Click [OK] to continue and [OK] on the preceding page to go back to dial-up networking.

22)Right-click on 'UQ'.
23)Select 'Create Shortcut'.

24)Click [Yes] to continue and then close down all open windows back to the desktop.

25)To connect double-click on 'Shortcut to UQ' from the desktop.

26)Enter in the Username and Password of your account with UQconnect.
27)'Save Password' is optional and can be ticked if desired.

28)Click [Connect] to start the dial in. You may see a 'Connection Established' screen at this stage which is for your information only and can be [closed].

Whilst you are connected you will see an icon: on your systray taskbar (which is normally in the lower right hand corner next to the time). You can right mouse click on this icon and choose [disconnect] whenever you wish to terminate the connection.
