UQconnect Email+ for Life is being offered in collaboration with Microsoft, and is based on its Exchange Labs email service.
UQ is using Exchange Labs as the new Student Email system as from 1st Semester 2009.
It is Windows Live Mail with 10 GB quota instead of 5 GB. You also will not receive banner advertising etc.
The migration of student email accounts to third-party providers is a big win for students and alumni.
It enables students to keep their email account after they graduate, something the University has wanted to offer for a long time, but has not had the resources to provide. Exchange Labs is also considerably more modern and user-friendly.
Moreover, because email is a core business for these providers, and because they serve vast numbers of users, they are much better able than UQ's email system to scale up to increased demand, and adjust to changes in load. That translates to more reliable, robust email for students and alumni.
Your new email address is automatically generated from your SiNet details as; firstname.lastnamexx@uqconnect.edu.au, where xx may be a number
This is also your Windows Live ID for Exchange Labs.
Once you activate your account and accept the Terms & Conditions.
You need to email help@its.uq.edu.au to have a redirection set to an external email account of your choice.
Note, if you do not agree to the T & C's you will not get a @uqconnect.edu.au email address and you can only forward your @student.uq.edu.au to another email provider.
10GB
20MB is the maximum allowable size for an attachment. However the practical limit is approximately 18MB.

No, Exchange Labs doesn't support 'reply to' addresses. A 'reply to' address is an e-mail address that you can use to direct replies for messages you send. By changing the "reply to" address on your account, you can direct replies to go to an e-mail address that's different from your sending address.
