Prerequisites
- To access Exchange Labs, you need the Windows Live ID that was given for use with Exchange Labs and your password. The Windows Live ID account is also your primary e-mail address and includes the name of the domain, for example, firstname.lastname@uqconnect.edu.au). To confirm that your username and password are valid go to: https://outlook.com
- Internet connectivity recommended
Connecting using ActiveSync (Push Email)
- If this is the first e-mail account on your iPhone, tap Mail. Otherwise, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account.
- Tap Microsoft Exchange.
- Tap in the E-mail box and enter your @uqconnect.edu.au e-mail address.
- Tap in the Username box and enter your @uqconnect.edu.au e-mail address again.
- Tap in the Password box and enter your email password.
- Tap Next on the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
- Tap in the Server box and enter: m.exchangelabs.com
- Tap Next.

Choose the type of information you want to synchronize.
By default, Mail, Calendar, and Contacts are all turned on.
To turn off synchronization for a type of information, tap and slide the switch to OFF.
- Tap Save.
- If you are prompted to create a new passcode, tap Continue and enter a numeric passcode. You will need to enter the Passcode twice.
If you tap Close, you'll need to configure your Passcode in the iPhone Settings application before you can view your Exchange Labs information on your iPhone.
Connecting using IMAP or POP

If this is the first e-mail account on your iPhone, tap Mail. Otherwise, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account.

Tap Other;

Tap in the Name box and enter your name.

Tap in the Address box and enter your full @uqconnect.edu.au e-mail address.

Tap in the Password box and enter your email account password.

Optionally, tap in the Description box and enter a short description for the account.

Tap Save.

Tap either IMAP or POP tab. (IMAP recommended)

Enter one of the following for Incoming Mail Server Host Name.
- For IMAP the hostname is:
imap.exchangelabs.com
- For POP the hostname is:
pop.exchangelabs.com

Enter your @uqconnect.edu.au email address and your password.

Enter for Outgoing Mail Server Host Name:
smtp.exchangelabs.com:587

Again, enter your @uqconnect.edu.au email address and your email password.

Tap Save.

To make sure that Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is enabled for incoming and outgoing servers, go back to the home screen and select Settings.

Select Mail.

Select your Exchange Labs account from the list of accounts.

Scroll down to Outgoing server

Tap SMTP server

Ensure that SSL is ON and Authentication is set to Password

Go Back

Scroll down again to select Advanced.

You can set up multiple e-mail accounts on the iPhone. The first e-mail account you set up will
be the default account. The default account is used to send from other applications such as Notes
and Safari. If you want to change the default account, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts,
Calendars > Default Account. Tap the account you want to use as the default account and
click the Home button to save your changes.

If you choose a POP or IMAP account, your iPhone will check for new messages when you open the Mail application
and select the account. If you are using an Exchange ActiveSync account, your mail will be downloaded to your phone
as it arrives.
Passcodes
If you are prompted to create a Passcode, and you tap Close instead of Continue,
you will need to create the Passcode using the iPhone's Settings application before you can send and receive mail,
calendar items, or contacts. To configure a Passcode through this application, use the following steps:
If your Exchange Labs account requires a Passcode, you will not be able to turn off the Passcode Lock.
- Tap Settings > General > Passcode Lock.
- Enter a numeric passcode.
- Enter the passcode again.
- Press the Home button to return to the Home screen.
