Prerequisites
- To access Exchange Labs, you need the Windows Live ID that was given for use with Exchange Labs and your password. The Windows Live ID account is also your primary e-mail address and includes the name of the domain, for example, firstname.lastname@uqconnect.edu.au). To confirm that your username and password are valid go to: https://exchangelabs.com
- Internet connectivity recommended
Setup
- Click the start menu
- Right click on the 'E-mail Microsoft Office Outlook' icon and then select 'Properties' from the list
- Click the [Email Accounts...] button.
- Click the [New...]
- Make sure the dot is next to 'Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP'
- Click the [Next >] button
- Tick the 'Manually configure server settings or additional server types
- Click the [Next >] button
- Make sure the dot is next to 'Internet E-mail'
- Click the [Next >] button
- On the 'Internet E-mail Settings' window:
- Type your display name in 'Your name' field.
- Type your @uqconnect.edu.au email address in 'E-mail Address' field.
- Next to Account Type:, select 'POP' or 'IMAP'. You might want to use IMAP because it supports more features and mail stays on the server.
- Next to Incoming mail server: enter:
- for IMAP enter:
imap.exchangelabs.com (recommended)
- for POP3 enter:
pop.exchangelabs.com
- Under Outgoing mail server (SMTP):, enter 'smtp.exchangelabs.com'.
- Next to 'User Name:', enter your @uqconnect.edu.au e-mail address.
- Next to 'Password:', enter your Exchange Labs password that was given to you.
- Click the [More Settings...] button.
- Click the 'Outgoing Server' tab and then do the following:
- Tick the 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authenication'
- Ensure that 'use the same setting as my incoming server' option is selected.
- Click the 'Advanced' tab and then do the following:
- Change the Incoming Server: Port to '995' if you are using POP3 or Port '993' if you are using IMAP.
- From the 'Use the following type of encrypted connection:' dropdown, select 'SSL'
- Change the Outgoing Server: Port to '587'.
- From the 'Use the following type of encrypted connection:' dropdown, select 'TLS'
- Click the [OK] button
- Click the [Next >] button
- Click the [Finish] button
