| Section 1: Preparation |
| You must uninstall any existing versions of the Cisco VPN Client before attempting to install the updated client. Failing to do so will result in software conflicts. |
| 1)Uninstall any exsiting versions of the Cisco VPN Client, for instructions please see 'Section 5: Uninstalling the VPN Client Software'. |
| Section 2: Installing the VPN Client Software |
| 1)Download the UQ VPN Client |

| 2)Double click the downloaded file. |
| 3)After the virtual disk has been mounted. Double click on the 'CiscoVPNClient' virtual disk on the desktop. |

| 4)Double click on 'Cisco VPN Client.mpkg' icon. |
| This will start the 'Install VPN Client' program. |

| 5)Enter the local root name and password for your Macintosh. |
| 6)Click [OK]. |
| Note: the ITS Service Desk is not responsible for managing your root password - this password is used to gain local administrator access to your Macintosh. If you do not know what this password is please consult your Macintosh Dealer. |

| 7)Check your Mac OS Version. Click [Continue]. |

| 8)Please read and agree to the Software License Agreement. Click [Continue]. |

| 9)Select the Disk where your current OS is installed. |
| 10)Click [Continue]. |

| 11)Click [Install]. |
| Please wait while setup installs the neccesary files for the VPN Client. |

| 12)Click [Close] when 'The software was successfully installed' is displayed. |
| Section 3: Establishing the VPN connection |

| 1)Select the 'Go' menu. |
| 2)Select 'Applications'. |

| 3)Double click [VPNClient] icon. This will start the VPN Client software. |

| 4)Select 'uq-vpn' from the connection entry box. |
| 5)Click [Connect]. |

| 6)Enter your 'UQ Sign-in' |
| 7)Click [OK]. |

| 8)VPN Client will now attempt to establish a secure VPN connection, when a lock appears next to the 'uq-vpn' Connection Entry and the status bar indicates [ Connected to "uq-vpn". ]. You are now connected to UQ's VPN Service. |

| 9)Click the middle yellow button to minimize the program to program tray. You may now start your application that require a VPN connection. |
| Section 4: Disconnecting from the VPN Connection |

| 1)Select the 'uq-vpn' Connection Entry. |
| 2)Click [Disconnect]. |
| 3)The status bar should change from Connected to 'uq-vpn' to 'Not Connected'. You are now disconnected from the UQ VPN Service. |

| 4)Click the left red button to quit the VPN Client. |
| Section 5: Uninstalling the VPN Client Software |

| 1)Select the 'Go' menu. |
| 2)Select 'Applications'. |

| 3)Double click 'Utilities' folder. |

| 4)Double Click 'Terminal' application. |

| 5)This will start the terminal application, you may recieve a different greeting message followed by a flashing cursor. |

| 6)Type 'sudo /usr/local/bin/vpn_uninstall' minus the quotes. Press [Return]. |
| 7)Enter your root [password]. Press [Return]. |
| Note: the HelpDesk is not responsible managing your root password, this password is used to gain local administrator access for your Macintosh. If you do not know what this is please consult your Macintosh Dealer. |

| 8)Type [y] then press [Return]. |
| 9)Type [y] then press [Return]. |

| 10)Please wait untill you see 'Cisco Systems VPN client uninstall completed successfully'. |

| 11)Select 'Terminal'. |
| 12)Select 'Quit Terminal' to exit the terminal program. |
| 13)Restart your Macintosh. |
