Who Can Access Campus Wireless?

Visitors to the University of Queensland who have purchased a UQconnect Visitor account can use the UQConnect Visitor Wireless. If you do not have a UQconnect Visitor account you will have to purchase one to use this service.

UQ Staff and Student accounts cannot use the Visitor-UQconnect network to access wireless, please use UQconnect.

Getting Started

To use the Campus Wireless Network, you will need to have the following:

  1. A laptop computer or PDA.
  2. A correctly installed Wireless LAN (WLAN) adapter that adheres to either the IEEE 802.11g or 802.11b standard.
    Note that 802.11a is not enabled.
  3. A current visitor Sign In Username and Password (Username will be in the form vz######).

Once you have a wireless-enabled device, you will need to configure it to use the Campus Wireless Network.

If you use your computer to access other wireless networks you should record all settings before changing them, so they can be restored for later use. Many adapters include software for managing multiple access locations - consult the manufacturer's documentation.
