American Cranesbill...

Geranium maculatum
American Cranesbill
American Cranesbill is a popular North American Indian herb. The root is astringent, and is used in infusions or as a powder to treat diarrhoea, dysentery, bleeding and ulcers (both internal and external).

American Cranesbill is a herbaceous perennial with a stout rhizomatous root and stems up to 2' in length. It is a wild plant of hedgerows and woodlands. Mature plants should be divided in early spring, and prefer full sun or light shade in moist, leafy soil. Plants self-seed profusely and soon develop into thick clumps.
