SURVEY.


In the good old days everybody played association croquet, had a fair bit of experience and it was a piece of cake for the games captain to organise games. But things have changed. Your committee wants everybody to be happy so please complete the survey form attached so we know what you expect from the club. We will then do our very best to ensure you enjoy yourself from the moment you walk (or drive) through the gate.

XMAS IN JULY.


This was, of course, a great success. The dinner, plus the several raffles being run around that time, raised almost $800 for club funds. The big competition was guessing the number of sweets in the jar. June distinguished herself by not only being nearest the pin (and winning) but also being farthest away. We must acknowledge all the hard work by the organising committee, chiefly Sandy, Marlene, Valda, Ernst,Jo and Joanie who not only provided most of the meal but cooked it too!

NOTICE BOARDS.


When you sign on, please have a look at what’s on the notice boards. They are one way we try to keep you up with what is happening around the club.

HELP.


With Christmas coming almost all Saturdays and Sundays are already booked for parties, some very large. The handful of members who turn out for almost every party would dearly love some help. The party goers are nice people and you have a good chance of being invited to share their goodies. If you can spare an hour or two, please see June.

LOST.


Carol Pedersen left her mallet for us to use while she is overseas but now we can’t find it! If you have borrowed a mallet to practice at home please let June know as you may have Carol’s mallet and we’d like to know where it is.

HOME IMPROVEMENTS.


Have a look around and you’ll se a gateball scoreboard or two attached to shelters. Construction by Bernie. Thanks Bernie. You might also notice that pavers have appeared on the ground under the shelters. Most of the pavers were donated by Di and Tony and a lot of the laying was done by June. Thank you folks. Our very special (and expensive) cylinder lawn mower has arrived!! We have also received a grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund for work including scarifying and top dressing the lawns. You should soon see an improvement and then you will have no excuse for all those misses.

COMING EVENTS.


Posh Afternoon Tea. Sunday 10 Oct. Croquet on the lawn – live music – afternoon tea – all very elegant – be there. Gateball Caloundra 13-14 November. It’s a competition but fun as well (not far from the surf) – see Bill the GoD. McIlwraith A.G.M. November – Day TBA. If you don’t come to the meeting you might get elected to the committee. Gateball Melbourne. 27-28 November Victorian Championship. We’ve entered a team – players and spectators required. See you know who.

ANOTHER COMPETITION..


Now that we have our monster mower, what do we call it? For a miserable 50c you can nominate a name. The winner gets 15 minutes of fame and a prize (undecided as yet but probably alcoholic.)
