The suburb of Annerley was one of Brisbane's first settled districts and was a thoroughfare for bullock wagons on their way to Ipswich city. The suburb contains a number of original "Queenslander" homes with many regarded as historically significant. "Ridge Haven" is one of Annerley's originals.
