The UQconnect Installation CD takes the hassle out of setting up your UQconnect dial-up account.
This CD is provided free of charge to all UQconnect dial-up clients and is sent out to all new external customers. UQ Students can also pick up a copy of this CD to help set up their free Internet access account.
On this CD you will find:

UQconnect dialer
On Windows computers it will take you through an automated step-by-step process that will setup your dial-up account and useful software on your computer. Macintosh computers should browse the CD for a guide on how to setup dial-up on their computer.
Software
- Mozilla 1.7.5 (Mac & Windows)- Popular open source Internet package developed by the Mozilla Organisation. Includes an Internet browser, email client, IRC chat, newsgroup reader and a html editor.
- Firefox 1.0 (Mac & Windows) - The simplified stand alone browser developed by the Mozilla Organisation that has become all the talk of the Internet world. A secure and stable alternative to Internet Explorer.
- Cisco VPN Client 4.0.3 (Mac & Windows) - Application for setting up a Virtual Private Network (VPN) between your home computer and your office network. Relevant to UQ Staff users, external clients should consult their office network administrator before using this product.
- Quicktime (Mac & Windows) - Standard media player software for the Macintosh platform. Required for many movie and audio files that are found on the Internet.
- Macromedia Flash Player (Mac & Windows)- Standard player/plugin for websites with multimedia content. This player is required for many websites now found on the Internet.
- Macromedia Shockwave Player - Similar to Flash and is also required for many websites found on the Internet.
- Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 (Mac & Windows)- Standard application for reading pdf files. Recommended install for Internet users.
- Spybot (Windows) - Ever have unwanted pop-ups appearing on your computer? Or does your computer do strange unexpected things? You may have spyware on your computer and this handy application can help you remove it. This is recommended to any Windows user (Mac users are not affected) who uses the Internet regularly.
- Zip Central (Windows) - Standard application for compressing and uncompressing files on Window computers.
- Avast anti-virus (Windows) - If you do not already have an anti-virus application on your computer then this free alternative comes highly recommended.
- Java JRE 1.4.2 - Many websites require this application in order for them to run correctly. Recommended install for regular Internet users.
