About the UQconnect student dial-up plans
- Three, six or twelve monthly contracts are available. UQconnect accept cash, cheque, money order, eftpos, credit card (Mastercard or Visa) or B-Pay payments. All prices quoted include GST.
- Unlimited usage hours, but maximum call duration is 4 hours on the Classic Gateway and Free Study Account.
- Free study account also has unlimited downloads from UQ sites, most Australian universities (except Bond, Southern Cross and Notre Dame) and a number of leading research and education institutions throughout the world.
- Private IP – Restricted access via proxies. You will not be able to access services such as MSN Messenger and net banking. Personal website only visible within UQ.
- Public IP – Unrestricted access to the Internet. With only a few ports blocked for security reasons. Port 25, 69, 135, 137, 138, 139, 161, 444 (incoming only) , 445, 593, 1434. Port 25 (SMTP) is not blocked if you have purchased a static IP.
- Email storage is up to 20MB per email address.
- The Classic Gateway account includes one primary email address and 10 FreEmail addresses. The Free Study Account includes 1 primary email address.
- College students may receive reduced functionality with this account. Please check with your college whether the Classic Gateway account will give you the functionality you require. If you are unable to receive a public IP from your college you may be better purchasing extra download allowance for your free student account.
