UQconnect-Wireless


If you're visiting a UQ campus for a conference then UQconnect can get you connected...

If you're visiting UQ we can provide you with an Internet account that allows access to our world-class Internet facilities.

This account provides you with access to:

  • 350MB of download
  • Our wireless network - St Lucia and Ipswich campuses only
  • Network ports available around the University (for plugging in your laptop)

NOTE: You need to fill out a Application for UQconnect Account first. This is arranged with your conference coordinator.


Where do I get an application?

There are two methods of getting an application form for UQ Visitor Access:

  1. UQconnect Service Centre - Anyone can request an application for on-campus access, from conference delegates to local residents..
  2. Conference - If you're attending a conference a UQ your organisers may have pre-arranged for applications to be at the conference. Speak to your organisers to find out, otherwise just visit a UQconnect Service Centre.

About UQ Visitor Access

  1. You will need your own laptop/mobile device to access this service.
  2. Your download allowance is used whenever you access the Internet at UQ. Access to UQ sites is free and does not count against your download quota.
  3. If you run out of download then you can purchase a one-off block of additional download.
  4. When you set up this account it will be permanently available for you whenever you visit UQ although you must remember your username and password. If you would like to use this account in the future, you will need to purchase more download.
  5. To begin your application for this account you need to first fill out an Application for UQconnect Account. This application will provide you with a registration PIN required for our online form. If you have not done this, please talk with your conference coordinator.
  6. Please be aware that you cannot access external email servers with this account. To read your email, please use webmail (eg Hotmail, Exchange) or VPN if available.  For more information about VPN please contact your own IT Administrator.
