My
Somali girl, Rani Ji, was limping quite heavily on her front
leg and could no longer jump up on my knee or the couch
without crawling her way up. Also when she walked she took a few
steps and then sat down with her paws tucked under and then took
a few more steps. But she could run if she needed to -
although she seemed not to *want* to and looked sort of
exhausted after she did. She had also been spayed recently
but the limping happened before hand.
I
took her to the Vet (twice) who tested her and said she was fine
...but... I knew she was not! So I sort another Vet's advice.
She
used to be such an athletic girl. I wondered if she'd pinched a
nerve while doing somersaults in mid air, chasing her squid on
the fishing pole or play-wrestling with my other (much stronger)
Bengal cat.
The
vet examined Rani and said two things:
1.
She may still be reacting from an injury as *though* it hurts,
because certainly nothing appeared to hurt when he
examined/palpated her, and maybe she's just afraid to use it.
2.
And the reason she can't claw her way onto a low bench is that
her stitches may still be hurting her.
But
I couldn't get rid of my feeling that something was actually
hurting her - so I went to yet another "vet" for peace
of mind. I still thought it was a bone, nerve pinched or muscle
injury from the day before the spay operation.
She
never complained but she still couldn't climb onto the couch.
Surely a week later after being spayed, she should have been
able to jump 12-14 inches to the couch.
I
had heard high praises about a local animal chiropractor. I
located the animal chiropractor and spoke to him by phone. The
good news was that he listened carefully to me describe her
movements and gait, asked a few questions, and said her neck was
probably slightly jarred and to bring her down.
So I
took her to the "animal chiropractor" first thing the
following morning and she's now fixed!

HE
WAS WONDERFUL! BRILLIANT!! I can't tell you how much of a relief
it was to find someone who KNEW what he was talking about. I
just *knew* something was wrong! And the vets said she was
fine.
After
getting two Vet's opinions - who just said it was her spay
operation restricting her movement Pfff! - he simply felt her
neck, shoulders and hips and then he described every nuance of how
she had been walking and moving and limping and why sometimes
she was limping on one side, then on another, then on the rear
legs. It was spot on!
He
didn't even watch her walk - he described it all just by feeling
her spine and muscles. He made me feel it too, so I would
know for next time.
He even described onto which part of her body she most probably
fell. Then
he adjusted her pelvis and her neck, and SHE'S WALKING PROPERLY
AGAIN already!!! <big smile & sigh>
She
was still a bit stiff for a couple of days which he said to
expect. But now she's great.
It
turns out Rob is quite famous in the animal world (though very
humble) with race horse owners, cat & dog breeders. He was
trained by his dad who was a very well know human chiropractor
(who was in turn. trained by my uncle, who brought chiropractic
to the state of Queensland, directly from Palmer himself in USA)
I felt so happy.
I'm
so happy that she is out of pain. I could cry with relief. :-))
I
highly recommend him, if you think your animal has twisted
something. Here
are his details:
