Maharaja Sir RAJENDRA NARAYAN SINGH DEO 1924/1975, born
31st March
1912, younger son of Raja ADITYA PRATAP SINGH Deo Seraikella,
and his wife, Rani Padmini Kumari Devi, only daughter of Maharaja
RAMCHANDRA
SINGH DEO of Patna (see above), granted ruling powers in 1933 on
attaining his majority; educated at Mayo College, Ajmer and St.
Columbia's College, Hazaribagh (B.A.); undertook Administrative
Training at Ranchi and Monghyr;
an enlightened ruler, he was responsible for the allround development
of the state and was one of the first Rulers to sign the Merger
Agreement with Indian Union; during his rule he removed untouchability
and the bar on
temple entry for Harijans and also banned
