Present Ruler: Otumfuo Nana OSEI TUTU II [Nana Barima Kwaku Duah], enstooled 26th April 1999 as the 16th Ashantehene. 
born 6th May 1950, son of the Asantehemaa, Nana Afua Kobi Sewaa Ampen II, and nephew of Ohenba Mensa Bonsu (Hiahene of Kumasi), educated at Sefwi Wiawso Secondary School in the Western Region for five years, Osei Kyeretwie Secondary School for two years, Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) at Legon to study accountancy for two years, Kilburn Polytechnic in North-West London, University of North London to read Human Resource Development and Public Administration; he worked with Mutual Insurance Group in Toronto as a senior consultant, returning to the United Kingdom in 1982 he was later admitted into the membership of the British Institute of Personnel Management, a human resource professional body, in 1985, he worked with the British food processing firm, Oxo, as an accounts officer, later joined the Manpower Services Commission at the London Borough of Brent, married Nana Yaa Achaa, and has four children.

      • Nana Owusu Ansa [John Owusu-Ansa], born c1822, possibly in Kumase, educated privately 1831/1836 and then by English tutors in England 1836/1841, embraced Christianity becoming a Methodist catechist, ordained as a Minister into the Gold Coast Methodist Church in 1852, resigned from the Ministry in 1862, devoting himself to Ashante-British diplomacy, he married in 1850, Sarah Scott, a Fante lady from Anomaabo, and had issue. He died 13th November 1884 at Cape Coast.
