- Raja SAMUDRA SEN [Samudra Simha] fl.1793
- Raja GAJARAJ SIMHA fl.1851, his state enjoyed full internal
autonomy on payment of an annual tribute.
- Raja BIKRAM BAHADUR SINGH -/1889, 55th Raja of Bajang
State, forced to
abdicate in favour of his eldest son, due to differences with the Rana
Prime Minister.
- Col. Raja JAI PRITHVI BAHADUR SINGH (son) 1889/1914
abdicated in
favour of his
brother, born 21st August 1877 in Bajang, educated in Kathmandu and
Prayag,
India. He returned to Bajhang in 1898 after his education and marriage
and initiated various reforms. Some of the areas of his contributions
(direct
or indirect) are abolition of slavery and sati, establishing and
leading
the first Nepali newspaper, Gorkhapatra, opening up schools, industries
and dispensaries. Jai Prithvi has played a vital role in initiating
land
reforms, publishing books, constructing roads and so on, first he
established
a school named Satyavadi school, an iron industry was established, a
dispensary
was established with doctors from Calcutta medical college on
deputation.
In 1910, he initiated land reform programmes, and land registration for
the general public was started. He was chief of the court (Bharadari
Sabha)
1907/1913, he served as Consular General in Calcutta from 1902/1905 and
returned to Kathmandu with a hand press to meet the shortage of text
books
in Nepali language, a leader of the World Fellowship Movement. Author
of several books in Nepali language, notably
Prakrit Vyakarna and Shikshya Darpan, he married 1894, Rani Khageswari
Lakshmi Devi, daughter of HH Sri Sri Sri
Maharaja
Chandra Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana, Prime Minister of Nepal
and had issue. He died 15th October 1940 in Bangalore, India.
