born 4th May 1948 in Nuku'alofa, 3rd Tupouto'a [4.5.1966] - [10.9.2006], invested as the 23rd Tu'i Kanokupulu on 30th July 2008, 5th King of Tonga, since 10th September 2006, crowned 1st August 2008; educated at a primary school in Switzerland, and at King's College, Auckland, and later at Tupou College, Nuku'alofa, and Newington College, Sydney, and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst; appointed Crown Prince on 4th May 1966; Minister for Foreign Affairs 1979/1998; co-Chairman of the Shoreline Group/Tonfön; he is unmarried, but has issue, one daughter (not in line of succession to the throne).

'Alipate Halakilangi Tau'alupeoko Tupou, 1st Baron Vaea of Houma, 15th Vaea, born 15th May 1921, Baron Vaea of Houma [cr.1970] by HM the King of Tonga, appointed to the title of Vaea on 16th May 1942, educated in Tonga and at Wesley College, Auckland, served in the RNZAF 1942/1945, member of the Tonga Civil Service 1945/53, ADC to HM Queen Salote 1954/59, Governor of Ha'apai 1959/68, Commissioner and Consul in UK 1969, first High Commissioner to London 1970/72, 1st Minister for Labour, Commerce and Industries 1972/1991, he also acted as Deputy Prime Minister on numerous occasions, and as Minister of Education and Civil Aviation, and of Finance, 11th Prime Minister of Tonga [21.8.1991] - [3.1.2000], interests include rugby, cricket and fishing; married 1952, Tuputupukipulotu Ma'afu, born 1920, daughter of Hon. Siosaia Lausi'i Siotame, 8th Ma'afutuku'iaulahi, and his wife, Hon. 'Anaukihesina Lamipeti, and had issue (see Vaea). He died 7th June 2009.

Ratu Edward had further issue by Laisa Kaukiono, daughter of Rev. Viliame Fonolahi, and his wife, Setaita Wea Miller. He died 25th June 1973.
      • Ratu Epeli Nailatikau (by Adi Vasemaca Tuiburelevu), Na Turaga Mai Naisogolaca, born 5th July 1941 in Levuka, Deputy Prime Minister, Speaker of the House of Representatives 2001/-, Chairman of the Parliamentary Appropriations Committee and of the House Committee, educated at Bau District School, Draiba Fijian School, Levuka Public School and Queen Victoria School, entered military service and rose through the ranks to Brigadier-General, and was the Commander of the Royal Fiji Military Forces. After the first coup, he retired from the Army and joined the diplomatic service, he was appointed High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and accredited as Fiji's Ambassador to Denmark, Egypt, Germany, Israel and the Holy See, later appointed as Fiji's Roving Ambassador and High Commissioner to the member states of the South Pacific Forum, before taking up a post as Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Trade in 1999. After the second coup, he became Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Fijian Affairs in the interim Cabinet, Speaker of the House of Representatives 2001/-, appointed the UNAIDS Special Representative for the Pacific, married 1981, Adi Koila Mara, born 1953, Member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister and Senator, daughter of Rt. Hon. Ratu Sir Kamisese Kapaiwai Tuimacilai Mara, 3rd Tui Lau, 7th Tui Nayau, and his wife, Ro Adi Lady Lalabalavu Litia Katoafutoga Tuisawau, Roko Tui Dreketi, and has issue.

      • Prince Sione 'Uluvalu Ngu Takeivulai Tuku'aho, born 7th October 1950, succeeded his father as the 6th Fatafehi Tu'i Pelehake on 17th April 1999, educated at the University of Auckland and later at a Military Academy in India; later joined very briefly the Civil Service, first the Tonga Defence Service, then the Ministry of Lands, and the Ministry of Labour and Commerce; 11th Prime Minister of Tonga [16.12.1965] - [21.8.1991]; became a Noble's Representatives to the Tongan Parliament; married 29th November 1998, HRH Princess Kaimana Hauoli 'o Kuini Aleamotu'a, born 13th March 1960, died sp 6th July 2006 at Menlo Park, California and buried 21st July 2006 at Langi Na Moala, Nuku'alofa, eldest daughter of the late Noble Fielakepa [Hon. Paula Longolongo'atumai 'Atunaisa Aleamotu'a], 4th Fielakepa, and his wife, Hon. Mele Tunakaimanu Aleamotu'a; educated at Tonga High School and at St. Cuthbert's College in New Zealand, and later at the University of Queensland, Australia (B.A.) and at the Australian National University (M.A.), worked with the Tongan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was later posted as a counselor at the Tongan High Commission in London. He died sp 6th July 2006 at Menlo Park, California, USA and buried 21st July 2006 at Langi Na Moala, Nuku'alofa, Tonga.

He was a Commissioned Midshipman RN in 1975. He held the hereditary title of Noble Ma'atu of Niuafo'ou and Niuatoputapu, bestowed on him by the King on 27th September 1979, he was removed from the roll of succession to the Tongan throne in order to marry his first wife, served three years as a Member of Parliament, representing the Nobles of Niuafo'ou and Niuatoputapu in Tonga's Legislative Assembly, married 1stly, July 1980, Hon. Seiloni Heimata'ula Kaho Anderson, born 12th February 1957, died sp 19th September 1985, daughter of Tahitian High Chief, Matagialalua Tavana Salmon Anderson, and his wife, Tu'imala Kaho, married 2ndly, 1989, Hon. Alaileula Jungblut of Samoa, now styled the Hon. Alaileula Tuku'aho, daughter of Melvin John Jungblut II, and his wife, To'oa Tosi Malietoa, and had issue (by 2nd wife).
