I'm organising a Grant Lee Buffalo chain tape. Exactly what will be on the tape, I'm not quite sure. Basically, I'll just get people to put whatever they want on the tape as long as it has a connection with the band of some sort and not album tracks. So it could be live versions, covers, rarities, b-sides, pre-GLB material, anything else anyone may have. I'd love to hear people doing their own versions of Grant Lee Buffalo songs - if that's what you want to do then send me a list of what songa you want to do so there's no overlapping. Perhaps songs or songs by artists that they have said they are into (as long they're an artist that most people may not have heard) or the original versions of songs they cover live ('Burning Love' or Neil Young's 'For the Turnstiles' for examples). So far I don't know of any bands that they are into except for Vic Chestnutt. It will really depend on how many people we have and what we can fit onto a 120 minute tape. Some songs that I would really love to hear (I can no longer get the singles here) would be 'Gold Chain Drag', 'Let Go of My Hand', 'We've Only Just Begun' (from the Carpenters' tribute which I can't seem to find), 'We're Coming Down' and the live songs on the HDT single. Please, nothing from Copperopolis.
So, anyone who is interested just send me an e-mail me with your address and what format you would like the tape to take. If there is enough interest, it shouldn't be too long before it gets going.
